Sioux Valley Cycle Club

Sioux Valley Cycle Club is a 160 acre motorcycle and ATV racing facility at 25868 477th Avenue, just north of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, about three miles from where I-90 meets I-29. The club was formed on Thursday, August 7, 1931, in a parking lot at 11th and Spring Avenue in Sioux Falls. In 1945 the members bought 7.5 acres on the east side of the city and built a clubhouse themselves, running scrambles, seven hour marathons, field trials, picnics and barbecues on their own ground.

Part of that land was later sold to the state, and the club used the proceeds to buy property on the west side of Sioux Falls. Both parcels were eventually sold, and the club purchased the 160 acres north of town that it occupies today. Nearly a century of continuous operation across four different properties is a rare thing in amateur motorsports, and it says something about how deep the club’s roots run in the Sioux Falls riding community.

Five Disciplines on One Property

The current grounds hold more variety than most single venue facilities anywhere in the plains. The property includes two reservoirs, a short track with a TT section, a large motocross track, a separate supercross track, several miles of trails used for hare scrambles, a pond used for ice racing, and a clubhouse.

That layout supports five distinct racing programs:

Motocross runs on the main track with a full class structure. Short track racing for bikes uses the oval with its TT section, a very different skill set from motocross and a discipline that has largely disappeared from many regions. Quad TT gives four wheelers their own competition rather than folding them into bike classes. Hare scrambles use the miles of trail across the acreage, running long format off road events including a three hour race. And ice racing takes over in winter when the pond is frozen.

Membership and Racing

The club operates on memberships, with full season memberships available as well as day memberships for riders who want to race a single event without committing to a year.
