About Motorsport Park Hastings
Motorsport Park Hastings, known as MPH, is a 2.15 mile asphalt road course on the southeast edge of Hastings, Nebraska. It has 13 turns, a 40 foot wide racing surface and three long straights that let cars run well past 100 miles per hour with generous run off areas. Forbes named it one of the best places to speed legally in the United States. Cars, motorcycles and go karts all run here, which makes it one of the most versatile motorsports venues in the plains.
From a Napkin to 200 Acres
The track began as an idea sketched out in a local restaurant by Robert Hartman, a technology entrepreneur, George Anderson, an engine builder, and a few friends. Hartman worked with the city of Hastings to raise capital, secure 200 acres of cornfield from a local landowner and hire Alan Wilson, one of the best known road course designers in the world, to lay out the circuit.
Construction started in early spring 2006 and most of the asphalt was down by that fall. Wilson designed the course with safety built in, which is why it works as well for a first time high performance driving student as it does for an endurance race field.
What Runs at MPH
The event calendar is unusually broad for a single facility. Open track days, high performance driving education sessions and club racing weekends fill most of the season, with karting events running regularly alongside them.
Organizations that race or run schools here include the ChampCar Endurance Series, Nebraska Region SCCA, NASA Mid-America Region, Rocky Mountain Vintage Racing, the Great Plains Region Porsche Club of America, KART MARRS and the Karters of America Racing Triad, plus marque gatherings such as the Mustang Roundup and Viper Rendezvous.
Motorcycles are a real part of the mix rather than an afterthought. Ducati Omaha and TrackAddix run a riding school at the circuit, giving street riders a controlled environment to learn track technique.
Garage Condos and The Well
MPH is set up as a destination rather than a day trip venue, and two features drive that.
The trackside condo garages are the first. Very few circuits anywhere offer private trackside ownership, and MPH built that into the original plan. Owners use them as garages, workshops, private collections or weekend retreats, and rentals are available for people who want the experience without buying in. Development lots remain available.
The second is The Well at MPH, the on property clubhouse. It seats 75 upstairs and another 75 in a finished lower game room level, and the team there handles weddings, receptions, retirement parties, corporate training and company retreats alongside race weekend hospitality. Not everything at The Well is motorsports related, which is unusual for a race track and useful if you are looking for an event space in south central Nebraska.
Stay garages are available for weekend guests, so drivers hauling in from out of state can keep the car, the tools and themselves in one place.
Getting There and Booking Track Time
The circuit is at 427 South Showboat Boulevard on the southeast side of Hastings, in Adams County in south central Nebraska. Hastings sits on US 6 and US 281, roughly two hours west of Lincoln and a half hour south of Grand Island.
Most track events here are registered through event organizers rather than bought at a gate, since open track days, driving schools and club races all require sign up in advance.
